Every Learner is Different | John’s Story
Life before Brooks and Kirk
John had many years’ experience in the public sector as a programme manager, but wanted to try something different. He retrained as a teacher specialising in post 16 business education.
John then got a job at a local college helping to teach people who wanted to go to University, but didn’t have the right qualifications. While working at College he was also asked to help business administration and customer service Apprentices through supervising their ‘day at college’, and discovered he enjoyed supporting Apprentices.
Finding Brooks and Kirk
As many of our learners do, John found out about Brooks and Kirk through a web search. He liked our model of distance learning, but with unlimited support.
“I thought Brooks and Kirk got the support needed about right – understanding that distance learning is not a soft option and being rigorous in marking the quality of the work you did while being supportive when I didn’t understand what was being taught.”
Life after the Assessor Course
Now, John is working with a different set of Apprentices at a College in the same group as his first College, and covering a different set of business related learning. He feels that he is learning in a different way and can offer a good level of support to the learners, as a result of the Assessor training he received.
