Outstanding support and the foundation of my career transition into high-stakes assessment. Completing my End-Point Assessment (EPA) CPD and achieving my Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) with Brooks and Kirk has been transformative for my career. As an educational leader looking to diversify into vocational assessment and quality assurance, finding a training provider with genuine industry credibility and rigorous standards was critical. The support from the Brooks and Kirk team from day one was incredible. The instructional materials were thorough, the learning platform was intuitive, and the assessor feedback was consistently constructive, timely, and grounded in real-world assessment practice. They do not just push you through to pass; they ensure you deeply understand the regulatory and pedagogical mechanics of valid, fair, and reliable assessment.Achieving my CAVA qualification through them has opened doors across the sector that were previously closed. It provided the formal, accredited foundation required to secure contracts as an Independent End-Point Assessor across major awarding bodies and EPAOs—including the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), Highfield, In2assessments, and Specialist Education Support Services (SESS). It also gave me the springboard I needed to progress into Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and take on Lead Quality Assurer remits. In this sector, awarding bodies and training organisations demand formal assessment credentials before they entrust you with high-level standards. Brooks and Kirk gave me the exact qualification, confidence, and professional standing to build a flourishing assessment and quality assurance portfolio. What is the Assessor, Tutor, EPA & IQA course bundle?
The CAVA (Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement) is the nationally recognised qualification that allows you to assess learners’ work in their workplace or learning environment. It’s ideal if you want to become a qualified assessor in your industry. Having a recognised assessor qualification also makes you eligible to become an End-Point Assessor. However, there is currently no specific accredited qualification to define the role. That leads us to our exclusive Award in End-Point Assessment, that covers everything you need to confidently apply for a position within the EPA sector. It will teach you the difference between the role of an On-Programme/NVQ Assessor and an IEPA.
The IQA course (Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice) focuses on the necessary knowledge and skills to provide quality assurance for assessments and assessment decisions.
Finally, the AET (Level 3 Award in Education and Training) is the nationally recognised qualification that gives you the skills and knowledge to start teaching or training in the further education and skills sector. It’s ideal if you’re new to teaching and want to gain a foundation in how to plan, deliver, and evaluate learning in adults.
What do I need to start the Assessor, Tutor, EPA & IQA course bundle?
You will need occupational competence in the area you wish to assess, teach and quality assure in. You’ll also need access to two real learners you can assess in a work or training setting for the Assessor course, and two real Assessors to quality assure for the IQA course. We can provide you with access to learners and assessors for this.
What will I get from this Assessor, Tutor, EPA & IQA course bundle?
When bundled together, these qualifications will allow you to both assess, teach learners and apprentices, and quality assure in your area of occupational competence. Some of the assignments you will find in the Assessor course cross over into the Tutor course. By bundling these courses together, you’re saving both time and money.
What training is involved in the Assessor, Tutor & IQA course bundle?
The Assessor course is delivered online with full tutor support. You’ll work through three Units, submit assessments, and complete practical tasks with your learners. The Tutor course is also delivered online with full tutor support. You’ll complete a mix of written assignments and a short micro-teach session, where you deliver a 15-minute lesson to a small group of peers. The IQA course is also delivered online with full tutor support. Similarly to the assessor course, you will submit assessments and complete practical tasks across two Units of work. Finally, the End-Point Assessor course is delivered online with full tutor support, but is much shorter as a 6 hour CPD course.
-

I have now completed three courses with Brooks and Kirk (CAVA, IQA AND AET). I have been very happy with the distance learning process and modifications put in place to stay Covid safe. Some of the course content was outside of my comfort zone but the support and explanations were brilliant. The whole team are friendly, Knowledgeable and very helpful through out. The weekly call to check progress was excellent. The support given to learners not yet in the assessment sector is really good as Brooks and Kirk use learners from other courses so you have access to a cohort of learners for assessment purposes. The first part of the assessor course helps you build a strong understanding of assessment. You’ll learn about the key principles of assessment and the role of an assessor.
This unit is completed online through Brooks and Kirk’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), where you’ll find videos, learning materials, and everything you need to complete your assignments.
You’ll also get unlimited tutor support, so help is always there when you need it.
Unit 2 – Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
Unit 2 is all about assessing learners in real work settings. For this unit, you’ll need two real learners to assess — and Brooks and Kirk will provide them for you as part of your course.
You’ll take part in an assessment day with up to four other trainees, fully supported by a Brooks and Kirk tutor. This gives you the chance to put your knowledge from Unit 1 into practice, with expert guidance along the way.
After the assessment day, you’ll complete a few written tasks on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Unit 3 – Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
Unit 3 focuses on assessing vocational skills, knowledge, and understanding. This unit is about assessing learners in a classroom or training environment, rather than in the workplace.
Just like in Unit 2, part of this unit takes place during your assessment day, where you’ll assess real learners with tutor support.
The rest of the work is completed online through the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), with tutor support available whenever you need it.

Unit 1 – Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training.
In this first unit, you’ll look at what it means to be a teacher or trainer in the Further Education sector. You’ll explore the key roles and responsibilities, as well as how to build positive working relationships with learners and colleagues. All learning is done online through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), where you’ll find videos, resources, and unlimited tutor support. Half of this Unit crosses over to Unit 1 of the Assessor course.
Unit 4 – Understand and Use Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training
This is the practical side of the Tutor course. You’ll plan, deliver, and review a short teaching session — known as the micro-teach. This gives you hands-on experience of teaching in a supportive environment and helps you develop your confidence. The micro-teach is carried out online, with guidance from your tutor.
Unit 5 – Understanding Assessment in Education and Training
In this unit, you’ll learn about different methods of assessing learners and how assessment supports progress. You’ll also cover the importance of involving learners in the process, as well as the legal requirements for record keeping. By the end, you’ll understand how to use assessment effectively to support teaching and learning. This entire Unit crosses over to some tasks in Unit 1 of the Assessor course.

Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internal Quality Assurance
In Unit 1, you’ll cover the theory behind internal quality assurance (IQA). This unit is completed fully online through Brooks and Kirk’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), where you’ll find a range of resources designed to help you. You’ll also have unlimited tutor support whenever you need it.
Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
Unit 2 is all about putting theory into practice. You’ll monitor the work of two assessors, each assessing at least two learners. To give you real experience, we’ll involve you in our existing IQA systems, where you’ll take part in an assessment day with our Assessor qualifications.
On the day, you’ll be fully supported by one of our tutors. This is your chance to put what you’ve learned in Unit 1 into action. After the assessment day, you’ll complete some written assignments online through the VLE.

Module 2: Role and Responsibilities of an Independent-End-Point Assessor (IEPA)
Moving on to Module 2, you will build upon your understanding of the new Apprenticeship Standards. This lesson focuses on the role that Independent End-Point Assessors play within the context of apprenticeships. You will gain insights into the specific responsibilities and duties associated with being an IEPA.
Module 3: Assessment Plans & Grading
Module 3 explores the unique aspects of assessment plans and grading in the context of an End-Point Assessment. Through this lesson, you will gain an understanding of how these elements differ from traditional assessing methods.
Module 4: Assessment Methods in End-Point Assessment
Building upon the previous lessons, Lesson 4 explores the varied assessment methods employed specifically for End-Point Assessments. This lesson emphasises the differences between the old and new Apprenticeships, highlighting assessment methods that are not covered in the NVQ Assessor course.
Module 5: End-Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs)
This lesson explores the role and responsibilities of End-Point Assessment Organisations, to develop an understanding of their functions and their significance in the assessment process. Understanding the EPAOs’ role is essential for IEPAs to effectively work with these organisations and ensure a smooth assessment experience for apprentices.
Module 6: Mock End-Point Assessment
Lastly, in Lesson 6 you will have the opportunity to put theory into practice. This hands-on session involves grading two Mock End-Point Assessments, each consisting of three components. By engaging in this practical exercise, you will be able to apply the knowledge and skills you have acquired throughout the course, gaining valuable experience in assessing apprentices’ performance in a simulated End-Point Assessment scenario.
