Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices

GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 115 | TQT (Total Qualification Time): 170 hours

The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices contains 3 units. These are:

Unit 1 - Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

This unit is a knowledge unit and will provide you with a thorough understanding on the internal quality assurance of assessment. It is delivered entirely online via our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Alongside our variety of learning resources available on our VLE, you will also have unlimited tutor support.

Unit 2- Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

Within this unit the trainee IQA is required to monitor two assessors, each with at least two learners of their own. We will integrate trainee IQAs into our own IQA systems where you will be IQAing our Assessor qualifications. This unit is primarily delivered face-to-face in one of our offices in London (Fulham), Manchester, Coventry or Boston (Lincolnshire). However we currently have permission from Ofqual to deliver this element online over a video conferencing software, though this is subject to change as Ofqual wish.

Unit 3 - Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility

In Unit 3, you will learn how to and demonstrate planning, allocating and monitoring work in your own area of responsibility and change original work plans where necessary.

Upon completion of the Lead IQA qualification, you will understand how to and be able to:

  • Produce a work plan for own area of responsibility;
  • Allocate and agree responsibilities with team members;
  • Monitor the progress and quality of work in own area of responsibility and provide feedback;
  • Review and amend plans of work for own area of responsibility and communicate changes;
  • Plan the internal quality assurance of assessment;
  • Maintain legal and good practice requirements when internally monitoring and maintaining the quality of assessment;
  • Manage information relevant to the internal quality assurance of assessment;
  • Internally evaluate, maintain and improve the quality of assessment.
  • Based on a few hours of study a week, this course should take you around 6-8 months.

    Prospective IQA candidates should have experience working within assessment and be a qualified assessor. If assessing experience is limited or the candidate is not a qualified assessor, we will need to check that the prospective IQA candidate is able to meet the standards the awarding body sets.

    In the awarding body’s specification for all the Internal Quality Assurance qualifications it states that;

    Centres should review the applicant’s prior qualifications and/or experience, considering whether this profile shows that they have the potential to achieve the qualification.

    This is why we require an up to date copy of your CV. Your CV needs to demonstrate that you have sufficient knowledge and skills to allow you to achieve the criteria within the Lead IQA qualification. So, regardless of whichever IQA qualification you are interested in, sending over your CV would be the starting point. You can do this further down this page.

    Once you have done this, the Lead Internal Quality Assurer at Brooks and Kirk would ensure that you have the relevant experience and skills to proceed with your course.

    We aim to respond to all eligibility checks within 3 working days.
