Every Learner is Different | Barrie’s Story
Barrie enjoys a lot of walking, reading, and going out to eat and drink. He has two adult children who he sees nearly every day.
Life before Brooks and Kirk
Barrie was joining a company called Mercury International as a Learning and Development Coach. In order to join, Barrie was required to hold a CAVA qualification, and so Mercury recommended Brooks and Kirk.
Finding Brooks and Kirk
After Barrie was recommended Brooks and Kirk, he didn’t look at any other training providers; plus, his employer helped him to complete it by giving him the time to do so.
“The training experience was great right from the start, everything was well explained to me and I knew exactly what I was getting myself in to. The support was great all the way through. I found the content was good as it was nicely broken up with videos and explanatory writing, I enjoyed completing the course even though I had to do it, I can think of a better way to have done it.“
Barrie said that the whole experience has absolutely benefitted him as his whole apprenticeship scheme at his level is based around assessment, and the delivery of the CAVA course as well as the actual course itself is exactly that. He says the course taught him how to assess properly which is good, however it also gave him the confidence to put what he has learnt into practice.
Life after the Assessor Course
As mentioned above, Barrie is now happily working full time as a Learning and Development coach in the apprenticeship training sector. He is really happy with the company he works for, as he says it’s great and really close to home for travelling. There’s room for promotion and as the company is big, it does lots of other training as well. He isn’t looking at progress and quality assurance at the moment as he is really happy with where he is.
“Definitely do it as it’s a good course for all the right reasons. It is relevant and you definitely need it if you are going to get into assessing. Completing this course has also helped me with the content of the course that I deliver now, so it’s gone beyond just helping me in a general sense. Don’t even think about it, just go for it and jump in”.
