Every Learner is Different | Gill’s Story
Gill likes spending time with her family and taking her dog for long walks. She also likes eating out and going on holiday.
Life Before Brooks and Kirk
Before starting the course, Gill was working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant in a primary school. She had 7 years experience in Early Years, ranging from special needs care to managing a preschool.
Supporting new staff and apprentices inspired Gill to want to change her career and take the course.
Finding Brooks and Kirk
Gill did an online search to find Brooks & Kirk. When she phoned the Boston office for information, she was so impressed with the member of our team that she spoke to. Gill said he had great course knowledge, and talked her through the whole process without any “sales pitch” pressure.
“As the course was so relevant to what I wanted to do I found it really interesting. The main advantage was that I could work at a pace to suit my lifestyle which was perfect as I was working full time plus had the kids/house/dog to sort.
The online portal was really well laid out easy to navigate and explained what I needed to do well. The online tutors feedback was lovely and they were quick to get back to me. Although a bit daunting at first, the day in Manchester was really good fun – the other learners were fab, the trainer put us all at ease and seeing real life learners confirmed to me I was definitely doing the right thing.”

It’s been such a useful course and I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve also found out today I’ve got a job as an early years assessor so it’s been a good news day!
Thanks again – all the Brooks and Kirk team have been so helpful and supportive I really appreciate it.
Life after the Assessor Course
Completing the course gave Gill the confidence to apply for jobs in Assessing. She started a job as a Regional Trainer in Early Years for a national company.
Gill says she loves it so far and found the base the course has given me to be so useful. A career change is a big step and she said she has lots to learn, but having the foundations in place from doing the course has really helped her settle in.
