Every Learner is Different | Danielle’s Story
About Danielle
Danielle likes shopping, spending time with her 2 year old and going on days out with her, socialising with friends and spending time with her family.
Life before Brooks and Kirk
Danielle was a nursery nurse, qualified in Childcare. She worked in two nurseries.
Through that time, Danielle worked herself up from a practitioner to a room leader and part of the senior team. She worked with students, volunteers, and apprentices and had a big part to play when helping the apprentices with their studies.
After maternity leave, Danielle returned to work for 3 days a week. She felt like she needed a career change but didn’t want to come out of childcare completely. As she enjoyed helping the apprentices with their work, that was when she thought about becoming an assessor, so that she could still dip into childcare as well.
Finding Brooks and Kirk
I started googling courses and came across a different training provider who I signed up with. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with them. I went back on to google and found Brooks and Kirk, looked at the reviews, I rang up and spoke to someone and was happy with what I’d been told so I signed up and went from there!
Course Review
“It didn’t take long to do the assignments and the feedback was always positive, even if you had to make amendments, it’s little things but they tell you in detail what to add. I provisionally booked on to the Birmingham day session but Dan emailed me to say there was one coming up in Boston. I decided to opt for the Boston day so I could get it done faster. I really enjoyed it, a lot to take in on the day. I can’t fault the course.”

After starting my CAVA with a college and having a very bad experience, I found Brooks and Kirk online and registered with them. I am so glad I did. The support is fantastic from all the staff from advice through emails, feedback on assignments and on the training days. The assignments are sent back with feedback in no time which makes getting through the course a quick progression. The course has allowed me to complete my work at my own pace whilst juggling being a mummy to my toddler and working part-time in a nursery. I want to thank all the staff at Brooks and Kirk for the support and highly recommend them to anyone wanting to become an assessor.
Life after the Assessor Course
Unfortunately at the time of completing this case study in 2018, Danielle hadn’t secured an Assessor job yet.
She was working for a training provider three days a week, but unfortunately, it didn’t go to plan after another bad experience. She had been applying to colleges and handing out my CVs to training providers.
Fingers crossed Danielle came across an assessor job as it is something she expressed she really wants to do.
Upon hearing about the bad luck that Danielle had with her first assessor job, we dropped her quite a lengthy email to offer some advice for getting her foot back in the door as quickly as possible. We are confident that the assessor job she deserves is just around the corner.
We appreciate that securing the perfect assessor job upon completion of the course isn’t always plain sailing. Whilst most people are lucky enough to find themselves a position virtually straight away, there are some that don’t have such good fortune. But for those people – We don’t disappear. Our experienced team are still there to offer tips and advice to our past learners to help them find their ideal assessor job as quickly as possible.
