Every Learner is Different | Darren’s Story
In Darren’s free time, he usually is involved in financial services. Darren loves to socialise and enjoys watching Derby county football and travelling. Darren has recently been to Amsterdam.
Life before Brooks and Kirk
Darren used to train for financial service exams with the DSW. Darren also teaches and EPA’s. Someone recommended CAVA and EPA to him. Darren thought about becoming an IEPA, but considered not, as his work load was too big. However, he wanted to go ahead with the CAVA course.
Finding Brooks and Kirk
A colleague of Darren’s recommended another company to him, but he didn’t look at them as he liked Brooks and Kirk much better and found what we had to offer was extremely useful. Darren liked that we offered EPA.
“I found it very good, I am a trainer by definition and work in various different mediums. I quite enjoyed the simplicity of the messages on the PowerPoints. The ability to pause the videos and think about where the answers fit I found it quite useful.
When I first started, I didn’t truly appreciate the quantity and quality needed to make my assignments, but you work it out over time. It took me a little while to find the level between putting in too much or not enough effort.”
Life after the Assessor Course
In the future, Darren hopes his work as an EPA will continue to increase. His 5-year plan is to reduce his teaching and training and increase his EPA. As EPA is an integral part of his retirement plan.
“My advice would be to just take the plunge and do it, and to take your time to truly understand the course and material. It’s a course that you can pause, so take your time with your research the tasks to ensure the quality of your submissions.”
