I now have 3 new qualifications, CAVA, IQA, and AET, which was  made achievable and possible with the help and support of the team at Brooks and Kirk. From the ease of contact in seeking support to the clear and helpful feedback given to help me achieve and pass each unit. Every person I spoke with and met, were highly professional and confident, and more over approachable and friendly. The team made assessment via zoom / teams easy and managed the process very well. I undertook most of the learning online, but did visit the office to undertake an assessment, even at the office I was welcomed and the people I met were all very helpful and polite even Allen. About the Childcare Assessor Qualification

What is the CAVA assessor qualification?

The CAVA (Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement) is the nationally recognised qualification that allows you to assess learners’ work in their workplace or learning environment. It’s ideal if you want to become a qualified assessor in your industry.

What do I need to start the assessor course?

You will need occupational competence in the area you wish to assess in. You’ll also need access to two real learners you can assess in a work or training setting. We can provide you with access to learners for this element.

What will I get from this assessor training?

You’ll gain a Level 3 Assessor qualification, plus the skills and knowledge to confidently assess vocational learners. You’ll also get ongoing support from your tutor throughout the course.

What training is involved in the assessor qualification?

The course is delivered online with full tutor support. You’ll work through three Units, submit assessments, and complete practical tasks with your learners. Find out more about the CAVA Assessor course content.
Studying and Support

How long will it take to finish the CAVA course?

On average, learners complete the CAVA in around 5-6 months. But you can work at your own pace — some finish sooner, others take longer. You will have up to 2 years to complete your course.

Can I fast-track my assessor course?

Yes! If you have time to commit and complete your assessments quickly, you can fast-track and finish in as little as a few weeks. We have an Express CAVA option available for this.

Do you provide learners for the assessments in the CAVA course?

We can provide you with suitable learners if you don’t have access to any.

Do I need to attend any classes to complete the assessor qualification?

No. The course is fully online, with flexible learning you can do in your own time. All assessments and support are handled remotely, including your assessment study day.

After a lot of research, on what qualifications needed to be able to transfer my hairdressing skills in a educational level, I've came across with Brooks & Kirk, and fair to say it was one of the best things that could have happened to me. Their professionalism and help is all you can ask for, and if I may say, after the first qualification, I'm at this moment on the middle of my 4th with them in less then 2 years, and I can't get enough of it. I hope that all present and future team of Brooks and Kirk keep performing at the same level or higher with all their learners for many years to come. Thank you for being always there for us.

I have been very happy with the distance learning process and modifications put in place to stay Covid safe. Some of the course content was outside of my comfort zone but the support and explanations were brilliant. The whole team are friendly, Knowledgeable and very helpful through out. The weekly call to check progress was excellent. The support given to learners not yet in the assessment sector is really good as Brooks and Kirk use learners from other courses so you have access to a cohort of learners for assessment purposes. I cannot recommend this company enough.

Childcare Assessor Course Content

The entire assessor training course typically takes around 5-6 months to complete, assuming a study commitment of a few hours per week. Throughout this time, you will submit assignments on our virtual learning environment, complete an assessments day with fellow trainee assessors, and receive ongoing support from tutors.

Unit 1

Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

The first part of the assessor course helps you build a strong understanding of assessment. You’ll learn about the key principles of assessment and the role of an assessor.

This unit is completed online through Brooks and Kirk’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), where you’ll find videos, learning materials, and everything you need to complete your assignments.

You’ll also get unlimited tutor support, so help is always there when you need it.
Unit 2

Unit 2 – Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment

Unit 2 is all about assessing learners in real work settings. For this unit, you’ll need two real learners to assess — and Brooks and Kirk will provide them for you as part of your course.

You’ll take part in an assessment day with up to four other trainees, fully supported by a Brooks and Kirk tutor. This gives you the chance to put your knowledge from Unit 1 into practice, with expert guidance along the way.

After the assessment day, you’ll complete a few written tasks on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Unit 3

Unit 3 – Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

Unit 3 focuses on assessing vocational skills, knowledge, and understanding. This unit is about assessing learners in a classroom or training environment, rather than in the workplace.

Just like in Unit 2, part of this unit takes place during your assessment day, where you’ll assess real learners with tutor support.

The rest of the work is completed online through the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), with tutor support available whenever you need it.
