Every Learner is Different (ELD) is all about showing anyone that is considering becoming an assessor, that there are no barriers with Brooks and Kirk. Whatever your area of expertise, age, location, employment status etc, we will have helped people similar to you before. ‘Similar’, but not the same, because every learner is different!
If you would like to be a part of our ELD campaign and share your story, then I’m only a phone call or email away 🙂
“I’m John – I had many years’ experience in the public sector as a programme manager but wanted to try something different, so I retrained as a teacher specialising in post 16 business education. I then got a job at a local college helping to teach people who wanted to go to University but didn’t have the right qualifications.”
What was your reason for looking to retrain as an Assessor?
“While working at College I was also asked to help business administration and customer service Apprentices through supervising their ‘day at college’ and got to like supporting Apprentices.”
How did you find out about us?
“I found out about Brooks and Kirk through a web search and liked their model of distance learning with support.”
What did you think of your Assessor training experience with Brooks and Kirk?
“I thought Brooks and Kirk got the support needed about right – understanding that distance learning is not a soft option and being rigorous in marking the quality of the work you did while being supportive when I didn’t understand what was being taught.”
What has changed since you completed your Assessor course and/or what are your intentions in the near future?
“I’m now working with a different set of Apprentices at a College in the same group as my first College, and covering a different set of business related learning – I feel that I am learning in a different way and can offer a good level of support to the learners I deal with as a result of the Assessor training I received.”
