What is the Lead IQA qualification?
The Lead IQA (Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice) is the nationally recognised qualification that allows you to manage and lead the internal quality assurance process within your organisation. It’s ideal if you want to take the next step from being an Assessor or IQA into a leadership role.
What do I need to start the Lead IQA course?
You will need occupational competence in the area you’re assessing and quality assuring and to hold an assessor qualification. If you do not already hold this qualification, then you’ll need to start here with our Quality Manager course bundle. You’ll need access to assessors to monitor and support as part of your practical tasks – this is something we can provide for you.
What will I get from this Lead IQA training?
You’ll gain a Level 4 Lead IQA qualification, as well as the knowledge and skills to plan, allocate and monitor work, support assessors, and lead a team in maintaining quality assurance standards. You’ll also get ongoing tutor support throughout your course.
What training is involved in the Lead IQA qualification?

Lead IQA Course Content

The entire Lead IQA training course typically takes around 6-8 months to complete, assuming a study commitment of a few hours per week. Throughout this time, you will submit assignments on our virtual learning environment, complete an assessments day with fellow trainee IQAs, and receive ongoing support from tutors.

Unit 1
Unit 2
Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
Unit 2 is all about putting theory into practice. You’ll monitor the work of two assessors, each assessing at least two learners. To give you real experience, we’ll involve you in our existing IQA systems, where you’ll take part in an assessment day with our Assessor qualifications.
On the day, you’ll be fully supported by one of our tutors. This is your chance to put what you’ve learned in Unit 1 into action. After the assessment day, you’ll complete some written assignments online through the VLE.
Unit 3
Unit 3 – Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work
In Unit 3, you’ll develop your leadership and management skills. You’ll learn how to:
Create effective work plans
Allocate and agree responsibilities with your team
Manage important information related to IQA
Review and improve the overall quality of the assessment process
This unit prepares you to confidently lead and manage the IQA process within your organisation.
