Detailed Breakdown of the AET Course
The entire AET training course typically takes around 3-4 months to complete, assuming a study commitment of a few hours per week. Throughout this time, you will submit assignments on our virtual learning environment, complete an teaching day with fellow trainee tutors, and receive ongoing support from tutors.
The course structure aims to provide a well-rounded learning experience that balances theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing individuals to become competent and confident Tutors.
Unit 1 – Understanding Roles, Responsibilities, and Relationships in Education and Training
In the first unit of the AET course, you will explore the roles and responsibilities of a teacher in the Further Education sector. This unit is completed through Brooks and Kirk’s virtual learning environment.
The VLE offers a variety of educational resources, such as videos and learning materials, to support you in your assignments. You will have access to unlimited tutor support, ensuring you receive guidance and assistance throughout the unit.
Unit 4 – Facilitate Learning and Development in Groups
Unit 4 offers a practical aspect to your learning experience. You will have the opportunity to deliver a micro-teach session, where you will plan, deliver, and evaluate a short teaching session. This practical exercise allows you to gain valuable insights into the process of inclusive teaching and learning. This assessment will be conducted online.
