Course Bundles

The assessor course that you need will depend on what you wish to do with it afterwards.

• If you are taking the assessor course to assess in the workplace and the learning environment, you will need the CAVA.
• If you are taking the course to assess in the workplace only, you will need the ACWE.
• Finally, if you are taking the assessor course to assess in vocational environments, you will need the AVRA.

The UPPA course does not qualify you to assess, it provides you with the knowledge and theory of assessing. This course is only recommended as a CPD course for those who already hold an older assessor qualification, such as the A1 or D32/33, and want to update their assessing knowledge.

You must be 18 years old or over to enrol on to an assessor course.

We also strongly recommend you have occupational competence in the area you wish to assess in. Whilst this is not a direct requirement to enrol on to an assessor course, it is a requirement set by employers looking to take on assessors.

You will have up to 2 years to complete any course at Brooks and Kirk. The more hours a week you put in to your studying, the quicker you will complete. The Guided Learning Hours and Total Qualification Time specifics are available on each respective course information page.

Three out of four of our assessor courses are delivered via ‘blended learning’. This means online learning with one face-to-face day session in your local centre (London, Manchester, Coventry, Boston).

The UPPA assessor course is delivered all online.

There are three different types of assessors.

• NVQ Assessors – assess learners throughout NVQ qualifications.
• On-Programme Assessors – assess learners throughout Apprenticeships, up-to ‘Gateway‘.
• End-Point Assessors – assess learners from ‘Gateway’ to Certification on their Apprenticeship.

In order to become any of these roles, you will need the Level 3 CAVA assessor course.

The salary of an assessor varies, as with any career, based on location, industry, hours, and role. On average, an assessor’s salary is £32,500. This is closer to the £40,000 bracket in some areas.

After completing the CAVA assessor course, you can get a role as an NVQ assessor, On-Programme assessor, or End-Point assessor. As a fully qualified assessor, you can also move on to Quality Assurance qualifications and become an Internal Quality Assurer.

In your area of occupational competence.

The assessor course is assessed by submitting assignments on our online learning environment, Moodle. You will have access to a number of resources and videos to help you to complete each assignment, and can access your tutor for support as often as you need during their working hours (9am – 6.30pm) via the phone or telephone. You will also need to carry out variety of assessment methods with your two allocated learners* throughout the course.
