Our Ultimate Guide To an IQA CV
As an Internal Quality Assurer, your CV is super important. Whether you’re new to internal quality assurance or a seasoned professional, our guide will give you all the information you need to make your IQA CV stand out and potentially land you the job of your dreams. Let’s have a quick look at the role of an IQA.
The Role of an IQA
The role of an IQA can be quite complex at times, but essentially, you’re the one who ensures the quality and consistency of assessments. As well as maintaining high standards. This is done by monitoring and evaluating the assessments completed by the assessors within the business. You’re also responsible for completing internal audits and reviews, and giving guidance to assessors and learners.
Building Your IQA CV
Crafting a strong and outstanding IQA CV is important. You need to be able to showcase the skills, qualifications and experience you’ve gained. You need to follow a strategic approach when you build your CV. However, you should add your creative flair and personality to your CV so it stands out to employers.
Your IQA CV must contain the following:
- Your personal information
- Such as your email address, home address, and a contact number
- Your education and relevant qualifications
- For example, have you undertaken an IQA qualification?
- Your work experience
- Make sure you tailor this to relate to the IQA job you applying for
- Relevant CPD
Add in CPD
Continuous professional development is crucial for IQAs as it keeps you up-to-date with your skills and knowledge. This is essential to add in your IQA CV, as it shows your potential employer that you’re committed to continuing your development and making your role better.
You should include any CPD that you’ve undertaken, so any seminars, workshops or classes you’ve taken, to keep your knowledge updated. Also, include any other training you’ve completed, maybe this was a verified CPD course or a training day?
Tailoring Your IQA CV for Each Application
Customising and tailoring your CV for each job application you make is essential. This can set you apart from other candidates when you customise it for each job role you apply for. To do this, you need to thoroughly read and analyse the job description and requirements of the role to identify the key skills and qualifications they’re after. Then, tailor your CV with the most relevant skills and experiences that align with the role.
Adding in a cover letter can always be useful as well. This gives you an extra few paragraphs to show just how you would excel in the role and why they should hire you. When doing this, you should research the company to make sure its goals align with yours. Additionally, you should look at other ex-colleagues’ reviews of the company, to make sure it’s a place you want to work.
Our Tips
Make sure to proofread your IQA CV, there may be errors in spelling, as we’re only human! Take your time to review each section carefully, making sure that everything is accurate, well-organised and easy to read. Consider using online tools or asking family or friends to review your CV for a fresh perspective.
Receiving feedback from other people can provide valuable insights and help improve the quality of your IQA CV. Reach out to trusted colleagues, friends, family and mentors who can have a look at your CV. Some of these individuals will have experience in internal quality assurance and can help give you more specific advice for your IQA CV.
You should also regularly review and update your CV with anything new that you’ve accomplished. For example, any new CPD you’ve completed, training or relevant achievements you’ve gained.
