Detailed Breakdown of the IQA Course
The entire IQA training course typically takes around 5-6 months to complete, assuming a study commitment of a few hours per week. Throughout this time, you will submit assignments on our virtual learning environment, complete an assessments day with fellow trainees, and receive ongoing support from tutors.
The course structure aims to provide a well-rounded learning experience that balances theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing you to become a competent and confident internal quality assurer.
Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
Unit 1 of our IQA course focuses on the theory-side of internal quality assurance in the assessment process. This unit is delivered entirely online through Brooks and Kirk’s virtual learning environment.
The VLE offers a wide range of learning resources tailored to this unit. Additionally, you will receive unlimited tutor support to ensure a seamless learning experience.
Unit 2- Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
Moving on to Unit 2, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge in a practical setting. In this unit, you will be required to monitor the work of two assessors, each overseeing a minimum of two learners. To provide you with real-world experience, we will integrate you into our existing IQA systems, allowing you to assess our Assessor qualifications on an assessment day.
During an assessments day, you will be fully supported by a tutor from Brooks and Kirk. This session allows you to apply your theory knowledge from Unit 1 and receive expert guidance. Following the assessments day, written assignments are completed on the VLE.
CV Submission
IQA candidates should have experience working within assessment and be a qualified assessor. If assessing experience is limited or the candidate is not a qualified assessor, we will need to check that the prospective IQA candidate is able to meet the standards the awarding body sets. If you are not already a qualified assessor, you will need our Internal Quality Assurance course bundle.
This is why we require an up to date copy of your CV. Your CV needs to demonstrate that you have sufficient knowledge and skills to allow you to achieve the criteria within this IQA qualification. Once you have done this, the Lead Internal Quality Assurer at Brooks and Kirk would ensure that you have the relevant experience and skills to proceed with your course.
Check if you’re eligible by submitting your CV below. We aim to respond to all eligibility checks within 1 working day.
