Every Learner is Different (ELD) is all about showing anyone that is considering becoming an assessor, that there are no barriers with Brooks and Kirk. Whatever your area of expertise, age, location, employment status etc, we will have helped people similar to you before. ‘Similar’, but not the same, because every learner is different!
If you would like to be a part of our ELD campaign and share your story, then I’m only a phone call or email away 🙂
“I am a busy mum of 3 children under 10, and was previously a lecturer at a further and higher education college.”
What was your reason for looking to retrain as an Assessor?
“During my employment, I recognised that I had a flare for assessment and genuinely enjoyed it. I began researching what I could do to further my knowledge and CPD after achieving a Level 3 Award in Education and Training.”
How did you find out about us?
“After speaking with Brooks and Kirk following a Google search, I was matched to the Level 3 CAVA.”
What did you think of your Assessor training experience with Brooks and Kirk?
“This programme [CAVA] developed my knowledge and understanding of assessment and gave me the opportunity to practice the practical side of assessing to achieve the qualification.
My training at Brooks and Kirk has been very well managed; the resources are easy to follow and well structured. The tutor support is there if I need it and the assignment feedback is turned around in a good amount of time. I like that I get prompted to engage with the course if it is noticed I haven’t logged in for a while – this does help!
I enjoyed coming to London for the practical element of the L3 CAVA, which added a good dimension to the programme and embedded the knowledge I had learnt through the theoretical elements.”
What has changed since you completed your Assessor course and/or what are your intentions in the near future?
“I added my progress to my LinkedIn profile and was headhunted by a large training organisation and was offered an interview to be an Apprenticeship Trainer and Assessor. I have now been in this role for 15 months and am able to first line assess a wide range of Apprenticeships which match my occupational competency in business.
After achieving the L3 CAVA, I enrolled with Brooks and Kirk for the Level 4 Lead IQA qualification, which I hope to complete in the coming months. My employer has recognised that I am keen to progress and have welcomed my certification which I think will help me climb the ladder in future.
My plan for the future is to complete the Lead IQA qualification which will lead to other opportunities within my organisation where I could sidestep into Quality Assurance and sharing best practice for assessment. I would like to further my knowledge in EPA so my next programme of choice will be EPA related – I feel then not only do I then have experience across the board to offer my employer or a future employer, but I have a suite of certificates to go with it!”
