Every Learner is Different | Elizabeth’s Story
About Elizabeth
Busy mum of 3 children under 10, Elizabeth was previously a lecturer at a Further and Higher Education college.
Life before Brooks and Kirk
During her employment, Elizabeth recognised that she had a flare for assessment and genuinely enjoyed it. She began researching what she could do to further her knowledge and CPD after achieving a Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
Finding Brooks and Kirk
After speaking with Brooks and Kirk following a Google search, Elizabeth was matched to the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, the assessor course.Course Review
“The CAVA developed my knowledge and understanding of assessment and gave me the opportunity to practice the practical side of assessing to achieve the qualification.
My training at Brooks and Kirk has been very well managed; the resources are easy to follow and well structured. The tutor support is there if I need it and the assignment feedback is turned around in a good amount of time. I like that I get prompted to engage with the course if it is noticed I haven’t logged in for a while – this does help!
I enjoyed coming to London for the practical element of the L3 CAVA, which added a good dimension to the programme and embedded the knowledge I had learnt through the theoretical elements.”
Life after the Assessor Course
Elizabeth added her progress to her LinkedIn profile, and was headhunted by a large training organisation! She was offered an interview to be an Apprenticeship Trainer and Assessor. Elizabeth has now been in this role for a while, and is able to first line assess a wide range of Apprenticeships which match her occupational competency in business.
After achieving the Level 3 CAVA, Elizabeth enrolled with Brooks and Kirk for the Level 4 Lead IQA qualification. Her employer has recognised that she is keen to progress and has welcomed her certification, which Elizabeth thinks will help her climb the ladder in future.
Her plan for the future is to complete the Lead IQA qualification which will lead to other opportunities within her organisation where she could sidestep into Quality Assurance and sharing best practice for assessment. Elizabeth would like to further her knowledge in EPA, and told us her next programme of choice will be EPA related. She says that this way, she feels that not only will she have experience across the board to offer her employer or a future employer, but a suite of certificates to go with it!
