How Long Will The AET Qualification Take?

If you’re wondering how long will the AET qualification take for you to complete, on average our students take around 3-4 months based on our flexible delivery. In this post, we’re going to take you through how long it will take you to complete the AET course and see if your schedule will fit around it.

AET Qualification Overview

AET is the Level 3 Award in Education and Training. The qualification is an introduction to teaching, giving you an insight into the roles and responsibilities. Throughout the course, you will learn how to plan effective teaching sessions and how to deliver them. You’ll also learn how to give constructive criticism. This qualification is ideal if you want to teach or train students in a Further Education setting, within your area of occupational competence.

It was previously known as PTLLS. If you see the course being referred to this or ‘PETALS’ then you need the AET. It’s a great first step into gaining professional recognition in becoming a teacher, tutor or trainer. The course is delivered through online learning, so you can complete the course on our VLE whenever suits you.

AET Guided Learning Hours

So what are the guided learning hours for the AET course? In total there are 48 guided learning hours. But, you are free to take your time, because you have up to 2 years to complete your AET course. On average, it takes our learners 3-4 months to complete the course, based on a couple of hours of study a week.

How long will the AET qualification take?

All in all, it’s entirely up to you. A specific timeframe for completion can be challenging, as it is much like estimating the length of a string. Your personal schedule should also be taken into account when considering completion time. How long will the AET qualification take is something you’ll have to consider for yourself.

How much time will your schedule allow you?

Due to our busy and fast-paced lifestyles, it’s important to acknowledge the diverse range of commitments that each individual has to manage. Not everyone has the same amount of time available to study, and studying time may be irregular. There are a significant number of submissions from night owls and early risers coming in in the early morning hours.
