The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is a step up from the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.

Detailed Breakdown of the CET Course
The CET training course typically takes around 6-8 months to complete, assuming a study commitment of a few hours per week. Throughout this duration, learners engage with the VLE, attend observations, collaborate with fellow trainees, and receive ongoing support from tutors.
The course structure aims to provide a well-rounded learning experience that balances theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing individuals to become competent and confident tutors and teachers.
The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is split into 4 easy-to-understand sections that consist of a total of 5 Units.
Section 1 – Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
In this section, you will gain a deep understanding of the various roles and responsibilities associated with teaching and training. You will explore the relevant legislation and codes of practice governing the educational landscape. Additionally, this section focuses on promoting equality and diversity within the learning environment, as well as understanding the points of referral for learners who may require additional support. This section is conveniently delivered entirely online through our user-friendly Virtual Learning Environment.
Section 2 – Planning to Meet the Needs of Learners in Education and Training
Section 2 of the CET emphasises the importance of effectively planning and tailoring instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners. You will engage in an initial assessment and provide evidence of this process. This section also delves into the use of educational theories to inform curriculum design, explores the contributing factors behind resource development, guides you in creating your own scheme of work and lesson plans, and introduces research and evaluation techniques for educational resources.
Section 3 – Your Lessons and Your Assessments
During section 3, you will actively demonstrate your everyday teaching skills and competencies. This involves providing evidence of your work as a teacher, such as the creation and utilisation of various resources, the design and administration of assessments, and effective communication strategies within the learning environment. This section allows you to showcase your practical teaching abilities and apply the knowledge acquired in the previous sections.
Section 4- Your Review
In the final section of the course, you will engage in a thorough review of your teaching practices and the resources utilised. You will evaluate the effectiveness of your assessments, ensuring they align with legal requirements and organisational standards. Additionally, you will assess the development and use of resources, reflecting on their efficacy and suitability for enhancing the learning experience. This section encourages a reflective approach to teaching and prompts you to continuously improve your instructional practices.
CV Submission
CET candidates should currently be working in a teaching environment. If teaching experience is limited, we will need to check that the prospective CET candidate is able to meet the standards the awarding body sets.
This is why we require an up to date copy of your CV. Your CV needs to demonstrate that you have sufficient knowledge and skills to allow you to achieve the criteria within this CET qualification. Once you have done this, the CET tutor would ensure that you have the relevant experience and skills to proceed with your course.
