Things To Know Before Taking Your AET
If you are interested in becoming a teacher or training learners in Further Education, then you may already be aware that the best qualification you can take is the Level 3 Award in Education & Training (AET). This will give you the fundamental skills required to be a successful teacher in FE.
Now if you have been in the education sector for some time you might remember the PTLLS Certification. This disappeared back in 2014. The Level 3 AET replaced the PTLLS Certification. Although there were a few differences between the two qualifications, the AET gives you all the knowledge you require for a career in teaching.
What Does The AET Involve?
There are three mandatory units that make up this qualification which we are going to cover:
Unit 1 – Understanding the Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education & Training
Unit 2 – Understanding and Using Inclusive Learning and Teaching Approaches in Education & Training
and last but not least, Unit 3 – Understanding the Principles & Practices of Assessment
The first unit is an introduction into teaching which includes learning about health & safety, equal opportunities and how your role may overlap with other professionals. The second unit is more about understanding how people learn and communicate. This is in order to establish the best teaching methods for different individuals; helping to meet the overall needs of your learners. The third unit is all about assessments. Identifying what an assessment is, and how to deliver them using a range of assessment methods.
How Long Does The Course Take?
The Level 3 AET takes roughly 120 hours to complete, but like with all of our tutor training courses you can complete this at a time and place that suits you. The course is delivered solely online, but you have unlimited support from our tutors. Don’t worry if you are planning on fitting this studying around a full-time job or night shifts; we will always be able to arrange a time of day that suits you for a phone call with your tutor.
Simple & Flexible Costs
So that you have even less to worry about, we offer two different payment options for the Level 3 AET. You can either choose to make a one-off payment; or if you want to spread this cost that is absolutely fine. Our instalment plans are very flexible, and for the Level 3 AET you will be required to pay £295 if you go down the instalment route as opposed to £245 if you are paying in full.
