Project Career Change
If you are an avid fan and follow us on social media you may have seen us talking about ‘Project Career Change’. But what exactly is it? Well, let us explain in more detail for you. The pandemic has significantly impacted the world of work. Unfortunately, the skills shortage in the UK has got even worse. This is why we decided to do something about it, along with the help of the EPA Hub and EAT Jobs.
What Is Project Career Change?
We are working collaboratively with these two organisations in order to bring about a change in the world of Further Education. Our mission is to bring together the skills from both business and industry, and then use these to train, develop and inspire the next generation. By acting as a gateway, we will be helping to create new training careers for the future. If you fit into any of the following categories, you need Project Career Change in your life:
- You are interested in becoming an End Point Assessor
- You’re an End Point Assessor who is looking for work
- You are an End Point Assessor Organisation (EPAO) looking for staff
- Or, you’re looking for a new job within the education & training industry
How Does It Work?
As the economy rebuilds there is going to be a lack of qualified trainers and Assessors. That is why we have started Project Career Change now, to try and get ahead of this. One of the most common questions we get asked here at Brooks and Kirk is “If I train to be an Assessor, will I get a job? And what are the career prospects like for me?”
By bringing together training providers and jobs all into one location, we can help to answer that question. Not only will you be able to get the training you need, but you will also receive expert advice on jobs; possibly even a job placement if there is a suitable one out there for you. We hope this will help in a small way to bridge the huge skills shortage gap that we have in the UK post-pandemic.
A Bit About Each Company
As you are already reading this blog on our website we will assume you know who Brooks and Kirk are; but let’s talk about our role in this project. We provide Assessor and Education & Training courses in order to qualify as trainers and Assessors. As well as assessor training, we also provide Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualifications. IQAs help to ensure the quality of training is as good as it needs to be.
The EPA Hub is a platform that links EPAOs who are looking for staff, directly with End Point Assessors. There has been a real issue for EPAOs lately. They have been struggling to find End Point Assessors, so they help bring the two together.
EAT Jobs is an education and training jobs board. A niche, affordable platform that helps bring together educators and training providers. EATJobs allows job seekers to be visible in the right place. It not only allows them to be seen, but they can also directly apply for vacancies that fall under the learning sector umbrella.
Aims Of Project Career Change
Whilst the overarching goal of this project is to help reduce the skills gap shortage in the UK, there are also 3 core aims which we want to achieve:
- Help those who are looking for End Point Assessment work, or those who are interested in getting into training and becoming a trainer themselves.
- Help End Point Assessment Organisations recruit more EPAs.
- Work with people to find them jobs that EPAOs and training providers are looking for.
We hope that Project Career Change will give a clear path into the world of work. By working collaboratively, we can reach more people and ultimately support more individuals into work.
