The Role Of The Marketing Assistant

The Marketing Assistant role can sit in any company no matter what the sector is or indeed how big it is.  These can be private, public, or not-for-profit organisations. Additionally, this can be within an internal marketing team or within a marketing agency itself. Wherever they are employed their primary function remains the same, to help deliver marketing activities to drive your business.

The Marketing Assistant is typically the entry point for many who go on to have successful careers in marketing often at a far more senior level. They are required to work well with internal colleagues as well as external marketing suppliers and possible PR and media agencies. As well as being a people person the Marketing Assistant is required to be able to directly support a wide range of marketing activities. These could include attending exhibitions,  trade shows and events, meetings with suppliers, liaising with clients, or supporting the sales team in their activities.

Back in the office, the Marketing Assistant is involved with every aspect of a company’s marketing. This will vary from company to company but may well include coordinating content creation, customer research, campaign monitoring, overseeing the delivery of work by external suppliers and well as all the administrative functions that go with this. Often this will achieved using a range of different marketing software and digital platforms.

Typically the Marketing Assistant is the first point of contact for day-to-day activities being performed by the marketing team.
