The next step for NVQ Assessors

If you have trained to become an NVQ Assessor and feel like you want to take another step up, then there is an option available to you – The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (IQA).

Next step IQA NVQ Assessor

What is it?

The Level 4 IQA is ideal not only for those who are part of internal Quality Assurance processes but also those who have wider quality assurance responsibilities, manage others, develop policies or manage External Quality Assurance (EQA) visits.

Brooks and Kirk recommend if you have recently trained as an NVQ Assessor, then you should gain experience in Assessing. This is before progressing straight on to the IQA qualification. However, there can be exceptions. If, for example, you had a background in auditing/management, it may be possible to progress straight onto the course.

Here’s a few reasons why you may wish to consider progressing onto an IQA course with Brooks and Kirk:

  • You can cover the cost of this course with a 24+ Loan. Even if you have already taken one out to fund your assessor course.
  • If you are a returning customer then you would also get £50 off the cost of your course.
  • We can provide you with access to the trainee assessors to support

What progression is available?

For those who want to take the next step up from assessing, there is the Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualifications.

Course Description

The old V1 Award (Internal Verifier) has now changed to the the Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance suite of qualifications (IQA).

There are three IQA qualifications available. At Brooks and Kirk we deliver the most highly regarded of the three; The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. The three units learners will need to complete as part of the course are:

  • Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
  • Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
  • Unit 3 – Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility

We deliver the majority of the IQA (IV) course on an online learning system. This means that you can complete all of the theory (unit 1) for the course at a pace that suits you best. You would then be required to attend sessions at either our London or Manchester centre to cover the competency based units.

As part of Unit 2, you need to monitor two assessors, each with two candidates of their own. Whilst most colleges and training providers require you to have access to the assessors to monitor, that is something we can help with. We can actually provide you with access to the assessors to work with. This would enable you to complete the course quicker than if you were to go down the conventional route with other colleges and training providers.

Just to clarify, as part of this course you will achieve the full thee unit IQA (IV) qualification. You will find that a lot of other learning providers don’t offer the full three unit qualification and instead just deliver the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, which is just units one and two. That qualification wouldn’t qualify you to lead the quality assurance process within an organisation.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification as such. However, we have to be sure that you will be able to meet the criteria of the IQA (IV) qualification before enrolling you onto the course.

This course is suited to anyone either currently working in, or looking to work in a quality assurance role. If you have experience in assessing and hold your assessors award then you could be eligible for the IQA (IV) course. You could also be eligible if you have experience working in either a quality control or auditing role.

The best way to find out if you are eligible to enrol on to our IQA (IV) course will be just to send over your CV to sam@brooksandkirk.co.uk.

Funding

There are three funding options available to anyone who is looking to enrol onto this course. These are:

Cover the cost of your course with a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan If you are aged over 24 and you have been living in the UK for over 3 years then you could be eligible for a 24+ Loan. This funding option would completely cover the cost of your course and you would only be required to start repaying the loan once you’re earning over £21,000 pa. However, even when you are earning above the repayment threshold, the repayments are tiny compared to your overall earnings. Please see below an example of repayments against perspective earnings.

You can find out if you are eligible for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan by either completing our 24+ Loan Eligibility Checker or just giving us a ring.

One-off Payment If you were self-funding the course, the overall cost would be £800. There are no hidden extra costs that will sneak on top of that, the course fee covers registration, certification and course delivery. You can pay the course fee off in one payment and get started straight away! We accept any of the following payment options:

  • BACs
  • PayPal
  • Cheque

Instalments There is also the option to pay for the course using our incredibly flexible instalment plans. If you would like to pay in instalments, then we would require a £200 registration fee to get you up and running on the course. As soon as we have received payment for your registration fee, we would be able to get you started on the course by the end of the next working day at the very latest. You can then pay off the remaining £600 whenever is most convenient for you! This is on the understanding that, you wouldn’t receive your certificate on completion until your entire course fee had been paid off. Acceptable payment options are the same as above.
