Making Sense of NVQ Assessor Job Vacancies

Do any of these look familiar?

A1 TAQA D32 D322 Assessor Qualification

These are all snippets from NVQ Assessor job vacancies across various websites. If this is all new to you, then hopefully you should find this post useful for simplifying all these baffling vacancies.

If you have only just started looking at becoming an assessor then you wouldn’t be the first person to find it incredibly difficult to work out exactly what it is that you need in order to become a fully qualified assessor.

Our CAVA, D Units, A1, TAQA page on our website is definitely worth a read if you would like to clear up any confusion in your mind with regards to what all these acronyms mean. After having a read of that page you will realise that the most current up to date assessor qualification you will need if you want to become a fully qualified assessor, is in fact the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA).

You will generally find that the only requirements for assessor vacancies are that you are occupationally competent in the area that you are looking to assess in, have a good standard of Maths and English and hold your relevant assessor qualification. Occupational competence can also be a bit of a grey area for people who are new to the world of fishing for assessor jobs.

Occupational competence is judged on experience of working in the relevant job role and/or prior qualifications within that line of work. Essentially, if you have been working in Childcare for 10 years and hold your Level 3 in Children and Young People, then you would be classed as occupationally competent to assess up to Level 3. However, each training provider and college will have different requirements with regards to the qualifications and experience they want their assessors to have in order to be deemed occupationally competent.
