It was National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) a couple of weeks back and there were over 23,000 apprenticeships pledged in this week alone! This was yet another record-breaking NAW, with an increase of 3,000 apprenticeships on 2014’s NAW. Year on year, there are more and more apprenticeship vacancies popping up online. Whilst this is good news for Apprenticeships, it’s also good news for NVQ assessors, as more and more apprenticeships means an increased demand for assessors.
The Statistical First Release (January 2015), showed that over 2.9 million people over the age of 19 were participating in further education. This was in the 2013/14 academic year. Given that every further education learner must have an assessor. This shows the amount of assessors required in Further Education. It’s evident there’s still a shortfall in NVQ assessors because of the amount of job vacancies out there for assessors.
We are frequently queried on the demand for NVQ assessors in various sectors. All you need to do is type in NVQ assessor vacancies into Google (or any other search engines). You can see straight away that there is a significant demand for assessors across virtually all sectors. However, Health care, Child care or Business, seem to be the areas where assessors are in-demand most.
So if you are looking at a change of career then it may be worth finding out a little more about what NVQ assessors do to see if it is a career that could be ideal for you. One thing that you can be sure of, is that the demand for assessors isn’t going away any time soon.
