Person-Centred Training Over Money Motivated Training
When you have been looking for training courses you may have come across those with deadlines. Sometimes if you don’t complete a course within a specific time frame, you will be charged more money for extending the deadline. Is this really motivating though, or does it have the opposite effect? Let’s have a deeper look into this.
Overwhelmed with Pressure
Staying stress-free when studying is hard enough as it is, without the thought of looming deadlines adding to the mix. In fact, the majority of people despise deadlines so much that they will avoid them at all costs.
Studying for a new qualification alongside your career is extremely hard work and requires lots of self-motivation. Imagine you are training on a course that has a deadline that if you miss, you will have to pay more money. Adding this extra pressure on top is not beneficial for the learner, it is seen as a money-motivated way of training.
Flexible Learning Options
Unfortunately, many training courses do leave you with extortionate extension fees if the deadline is missed. What if you are half-way through the course and realise that flexible learning just isn’t right for you? With a looming deadline and costs racking up you may find yourself heading towards a dark place.
Here at Brooks and Kirk we understand that there are lots of different types of learners and some need more time to complete a course than others. This is why you will have noticed on our Assessor training website that none of our courses have start or end dates. We have carried out research that shows learners produce a much higher standard of work without the pressure of deadlines.
Choosing A Training Provider
When it comes to choosing a training provider, ask yourself which will suit you best. Person-centered training when you are the core focus, or money-motivated training. You may prefer to have a set deadline to work towards, and that is absolutely fine, everyone is different. However, you never know what is going to happen in a few months’ time. A new job could mean you have less free time to spend on your course, and you don’t want to be stung with extension fees further down the line.
