Industry Statistics for Trained Assessors | 2020
Over the years, we have been fortunate enough to train a lot of people to become assessors, who have come from a variety of different backgrounds. There are lots of different reasons why people choose to become NVQ assessors. Whether someone has just become a parent and needs a flexible career, has just been made redundant, or wants to try their hand at something new.
It always fascinates us how we train people from such a range of industries. We wanted to explore whether there was any correlation between the industry we have trained the most, and the demand for assessors in that industry. So we ran a small study on 500 of our learners to see.
The results are in…
As you can see from the pie chart, the largest proportion was Health & Social Care with 16% of our learners from that industry. With Hair and Beauty coming a close 2nd with 13%. Of course it is worth noting that there are lots of other industries that have assessors. Just because we haven’t listed them above, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. This is just a very small segment of data we have captured (only 500 learners).
Demand for Assessors
What this study showed us was there is a high demand for assessors in Health & Social Care, Childcare, Hair and Beauty, and Construction. None of these results were particularly surprising to us, as we have been training within these sectors for many years now. We had already noticed an increase in the importance of assessors in construction in recent years too.
That’s not to say the industries with smaller percentages are any less important though. Some of our key workers such as police, teachers, dental, and customer service staff do also have to be competent in order to carry out their job. There is still a demand in these sectors, but maybe just not quite as high a demand.
We hope this has been useful for you to see the range of industries that require trained assessors. It is important that you choose the right assessor qualification for your career, so if you have any questions please get in touch with the team at Brooks and Kirk for advice.
