We’re just over a week into the new year now, and with a new year will come new challenges. It’s expected that more people will take on the challenge of an Apprenticeship this year. This will be an alternative route to University. What else is in store for Apprenticeships in 2019?
Apprenticeships in 2019
FENews have predicted that higher and degree-level Apprenticeships will get much more popular in the coming months, as they give those who were not able to even consider the University route a solid career path to go down. They think that the reason for Apprenticeships gaining their popularity is because young people are realising the benefits of one. This may be the confidence and skills they will gain, or simply the real-work experience.
As time goes by, different Apprenticeships will start developing, and since last year the Institute for Apprenticeships have been aiming to make these apprenticeships develop ‘faster’ and become ‘better’. As a matter of fact, their programme that is dedicated to new Apprenticeships is actually called ‘Faster and Better’. In their article from last year describing the ‘Faster and Better’ programme, they said:
“Throughout 2018 and beyond, we remain committed to a programme of continuous improvement. Our systems must be sufficiently flexible and adaptable, to ensure as many high quality apprenticeship standards can be ready for employers and apprentices to use as soon as possible.”
FENews are not disregarding the University route by any means. They feel, and we can agree, that ‘university degrees still remain a vital educational route to success for some’. The fact is that degrees are not the only way to pursue a successful career. Young people can be sure that the Apprenticeship route can also lead them down a path to a successful career.
