The £1,500 grant aimed at encouraging small companies to take on an Apprentice has now been extended to include larger employers.
The government grant can now be claimed by employers with up to 1,000 staff who are looking to take on their first apprentice aged between 16 and 24.
Employers can also now take on up to ten apprentices at one time, previously the grant could only be paid for up to three.
The government hopes that extending the grant will help to attract 40,000 new apprenticeships in 2012/13.
